Description

JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. is hiring a part-time (0.50 FTE) IQIP Consultant to support the Immunization Division at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH). This is an opportunity to implement Quality Improvement Strategies to increase immunization coverage levels of all childhood and adolescent Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended immunizations through the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Immunization Quality Improvement for Provider (IQIP) program.

IQIP is CDC’s national Vaccine for Children (VFC) provider-level immunization quality improvement (QI) program. IQIP serves to assist and support healthcare providers by identifying opportunities to improve vaccine uptake and help providers to:
  • Try new vaccination service delivery strategies and incorporate changes into their current practices
  • Sustain changes and improvements to their vaccination service delivery
  • Maintain awareness of and be knowledgeable about vaccination coverage and missed opportunities to vaccinate
  • Use available data from the Massachusetts Immunization Information System (MIIS) to improve services and coverage

The IQIP consultant will conduct IQIP Quality Improvement site visits, 2-month and 6-month check-ins, and follow-up sessions with healthcare providers.

Note:
This position is based at the Bureau of Infectious Disease and Laboratory Sciences (BIDLS) in Jamaica Plain, MA. The position will primarily consist of telework and site visiting throughout Massachusetts. A valid driver's license, automobile, and auto liability insurance are required for this position. This is a contract award specific employment arrangement which means employment is provided for the period of the contract only (currently through June 2025). Authorization to work in the US required. PT salary range for the position is $40,000-$50,000/year. Salary commensurate with education and experience. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and conduct IQIP Quality Improvement site visits, in person or via webinar, and check-in/ follow up sessions via phone or webinar with Massachusetts health care providers.
  • Collaborate with health care providers to identify evidence-based quality improvement strategies to increase immunization uptake.
  • Run and analyze immunization coverage level reports in the MIIS .
  • Enter information and data from IQIP Quality Improvement site visits and check-in/ follow-ups into a REDCap database, following established protocols.
  • Perform other tasks as needed to support the IQIP Quality Improvement process.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing Degree required, Master’s degree in nursing, public health or a related field preferred.
  • Two - three years of professional level experience.
  • At least one of these years must be within a health, public health, or medical setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with pediatric health care provider issues and the immunization field.
  • Experience with quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with health care providers about immunizations and vaccine preventable diseases.
  • Working knowledge of the CDC/ACIP recommended immunization schedule for people 0 through 18 years of age.
  • Experience tracking and analyzing data quality issues in a health care setting.
  • Facility in learning new technologies and applying them to project work.
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong desire to interact with leaders of state government, other government agencies, non-profit organizations, health care providers and their associated organizations.
  • Comfortable working independently and able to adapt to changing priorities.
  • An energetic, self-starter who can work as part of a team with limited supervision.
